Say hello to the youngest Haldansen boy, whatever you decide to name him. This kid over here is Kristian's younger brother. Although I made sure to leave most of what we know about him pretty vague so you can make him your own character, there are two things that are known. First, he doesn't have the same ice powers as Kris and Elsa, but I am willing to tweak things a bit if you really want him to have the same powers. You will need to PM me first though. Secondly, he was really close with Kris when they were younger and the whole family managed to stay pretty close even as the boys got older. This prince will be a calming presence for Kris, but it would certainly be interesting if this character was jealous of Kris or for some other reason couldn't stand their brother? Or he could just be the cool little bro. It's up to you! Just hit me up for plotting stuff if you want him!

Well, you can't have Elsa without Anna, so I'm also asking for Kris's cousins. It would be an interesting combo to see if their kids were just as spunky and outgoing as their mom while Kris holds back like his mom, but if there mellow like Kristoff, that'll be pretty cool too! (I just want them running around tbh.) Either way, even though I didn't mention it in his history, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume that these cousins spent a lot time together as kids and would be somewhat close as a result. So everyone else better watch out when winter comes to the Academy because there is no way anyone is going to be able to challenge this family in a good ol' fashioned snowball fight. Most Memorable Feature: One of the things that certainly have people taking a double glance is his snowy white hair. Inherited from his mother, it's an outward sign of the powers that Kris possesses. More observant people may then notice that Kris has a certain affinity for gloves, regardless of the weather, but more on that later.
If you didn't know that this kid was the heir to Arendelle. you'd be able to tell by the way he carries himself. He walks with that sort of innate confidence that can only come with a crown, it's almost as if he instinctively expects all eyes to be on him the moment he walks into a room and he knows that everyone has high expectations of him. Kris doesn't slouch and if he's bored, he never shows it. In fact, that outside of his friend group would find it hard to find any memories of Kris purposely showing any emotions besides the occasional overwhelming peal of laughter. He's just too personally guarded to let how he really feels show. So, he appears to be the quiet, unassuming prince who fades into the background and quite honestly, that's how he likes it. If he seems somewhat unapproachable, then it's less likely for someone to get close enough to get hurt.
At the academy, he's keen on ditching the stiff, heavy clothes that would befit the heir of an icy kingdom. Instead, Kris favors lighter things (such as button-ups or jeans) that he could more easily move around in and doesn't immediately reveal his royal status. He is also rarely far from a dark green messenger bag that holds his favorite camera and lens. If it isn't nearby then he'll probably have that camera already hanging around his neck. That way he could never be caught off guard and miss a great opportunity for a shoot. Tucked away into this camera bag is also a pair of white gloves that can seem out of place for him at times, but they seem to be one of the only things that can keep his powers in check. So, if he's worried about accidentally freezing something, he'll put them on, regardless of the activity or weather. In addition to his camera bag, he is inseparable from a small silver pendant that has the crest of Arendelle on it and it's a little nervous habit of his to reach up to fiddle with it whenever he's overwhelmed. So, if he does this with his gloves on, it might be a good idea to either check on him or get far away from him because clearly, he's not having a good day.

PERSONALITY
Overall, when you first meet Kris, one of the things youโre bound to notice is just how quiet he is. As a daydreamer, Kristian is far more content to quietly do his own thing then have all the spotlight on him. This shows even within his own friend group, he isnโt going to be the one to take control and force himself to be the leader. Instead, heโs happy to just fade somewhat into the background and let the others call the shots unless itโs a situation where he needs to step out of the shadows. Normally this only happens when his beliefs are questioned or his friends are challenged, both of which heโll defend with the kind of unwavering loyalty you could only find within a prince. He also cares deeply for them and others around him, holding his compassion for others to be one of his highest qualities. If youโre in trouble, heโll be willing to help regardless if youโre a hero or villain. Given his passion for the arts, Kris is also highly creative and will be the one to come up the most outlandish plans that --spoiler alert-- will almost never work. Oh well, at least this side can lead to him creating some amazing works.
However, this doesnโt mean that he isnโt without his flaws. Most notably, he is riddled with self-doubt pertaining to his powers. Long story short, Kris doesnโt feel as if he has much control over his abilities as he should, even though he is certainly leagues ahead of where his mother was when she was his age. Heโs constantly afraid of accidentally hurting someone he cares about in a moment of rage, so if heโs feeling overwhelmed emotionally, he will try to isolate himself until his emotions can come back down. This can be difficult for him to do as he struggles to deal with his feelings in a healthy way, to begin with, as he would rather bottom them up than deal with his friends. It can also be difficult for his friends to identify when his isolation should be waving red flags since Kris also generally craves alone time and will become very stressed out if he doesnโt find it. This doesnโt mean that he needs an hour in his room on his own, heโll be happy going for a walk around Atlantica lake on his own. Heโll be happy just as long as he can somehow recharge so to speak. So, most of the time if he retreats from the crowd, it isnโt something to be overly worried about. Itโs only when he continuously isolates himself for several days on end or seems very agitated should there be concern.) Heโs also somewhat messy as he has his own way of organizing his things that doesnโt make a whole lot of sense to those who donโt understand it. This can most easily be seen by his photograph collection on his walls and scattered in several shoeboxes throughout his dorm. Namely, theyโre separated by the type of camera, date, and subject; in that order.
Speaking of which, there is almost nothing that makes him happier than being able to see the world through a camera lens. He canโt quite explain it, but thereโs just something incredibly fascinating about being able to capture a fleeting moment on film that he otherwise wasnโt meant to see. Thatโs why he focuses so much on candid subjects such as nature or his friends. Every now and then though he will set up a photo shoot that is more posed, but these are so rare that they only tend to happen around other special events at the academy such as dances or graduation. Otherwise, he just has a camera on him ready to go if he sees something he thinks would be interesting. Since most of his stuff is fragile and he doesnโt like people messing with it, Kris can be very protective over his equipment and can go absolutely ballistic if someone isnโt careful. Really doing something as dumb as that is the one way to make this prince lose his cool and in the interest of keeping the academy snow-free, it would be wise to just leave it alone and let Kris do his own thing.
HISTORY
The story of how Kris's parents, Elsa and Valdemar, became a couple was not one of two hearts beating as one or anything like that. Instead, it was an arranged marriage made for the good of their kingdoms. At first, Queen Elsa didn't even want to bother with the whole subject of marriage, it didn't seem like the thing for her. But her royal advisers were not convinced and thought that the young duke they found in a neighboring land was more than a suitable match for the young queen. His dukedom, Skalafell, was a particularly wealthy one (given they were now Arendelle's chief trading partner) and Valdemar himself wasn't all that bad of a catch. Good looking, well-educated, seemingly okay with not being a king... it was little wonder they thought he was perfect for the job and the reluctant ice queen had to agree. Rumor had it she wanted to hold out to see if she too could find a true love like her sister had with Kristoff, but with the future of Arendelle resting on her shoulders, Elsa couldn't afford to wait for Mr. Right to walk into her life. At least she was assured that with him, she would be content even if there wasn't any romantic investment between the pair.
So the union went ahead and soon enough Valdemar became the prince consort. Their marriage was a happy occasion for the kingdom, but it was nothing compared to how ecstatic everyone seemed to be when, just over a year later on a blustery winter night, Elsa gave birth to baby boy. Needless to say, this child was Kristian and he was welcomed by the people with the fanfare only fit for a future King of Arendelle.
But behind closed doors, Elsa didn't share the same joy when she first laid eyes on her son. Instead, she was absolutely horrified. After all, there was a reason as to why she wasn't too eager to marry Valdemar or anyone for that matter. She was terrified that she would pass her curse to the next generation and fears weren't all that far fetched. No one understood why she had her ice powers, to begin with, meaning that it was possible that she could pass it onto her future children. Elsa was not willing to take that risk. She had suffered too much to even fathom letting the possibility of anyone else, let alone her own children, have to go through the same anguish she did. The trolls had promised her that this wouldn't happen; that it couldn't and that was the only reason she agreed to marry Valdemar. They promised her that she could not pass her curse on and she trusted them. She believed them.
Why then did her little boy have snowy white hair?
With her worst fears realized, Elsa did everything in her power to rid her boy of his powers. She went back to the trolls, consulted the books in the library, and even listened to the advice of some questionable mystics, but none of them could remove Kris's powers. After coming to terms with the fact that nothing could be done, his mother then became determined that her son would never fear what he was capable of in order to save him from her isolating childhood. So, throughout his younger years, Kris didn't understand the meaning of "conceal, don't feel" and he only had to wear gloves at public events since the people didn't know just yet.
At home though, he was free to use his powers as he wished, leading to many snowball fights and skating competitions with his younger brother by just two years. There was only one rule that he had to follow, one of his parents needed to supervise all magic use especially when the two boys were playing together. This was a safeguard for the boys especially since the younger prince did not have the same powers as his older brother. It wasn't too much of a detriment though as it only brought the family closer together, forming a tight family unit that not even the coldest heart could break. This gave Kris the supportive environment he needed to learn how to control his powers in a positive way. By the time he was thirteen, the chances of him having a dangerous outburst that could hurt someone was so slim that Elsa and Valdemar trusted him enough to send him to the academy, putting faith in the promise that it was the premier place for a growing royal to receive an education.
Kris was excited about the change at first. After all, he had spent his whole life in Arendelle with just his brother and cousins as his friends, so the opportunity to make new ones was certainly enticing. That quickly faded however when he realized a troubling thing about his powers, he had grown so used to his family being around him when he used them that he was deeply afraid to without them nearby. Somehow he was convinced that he needed them with him in order to keep him from accidentally freezing his whole country. In fact, this fear was so debilitating that he could barely control his powers. He couldn't get them to work when he wanted them too and if he didn't wear his gloves, everything would frost at his touch. It was absolutely terrifying to this kid who seemingly had total control beforehand.
It got a bit easier when his brother came to the academy, but the damage was done. Kris feels as if he has no control over what he can do anymore, although this isn't really the case. It's mostly all just in his head. If he doesn't think about the fact that he doesn't have his family around to make sure everything's okay, he'll be able to manage his powers just fine. But once that fear creeps in, it's time for the gloves to go on.
If only this family could seem to understand the troll's initial message of not letting fear control them... Certainly, this boy's life would be a whole lot easier if that were the case.
